Twice exceptional/gifted

Systems, plurals
Therapy veterans (people who have already done a lot of therapy)
I especially enjoy working with other therapists, social workers, academics, community organizers, and sex workers.

I’m M, and my pronouns are they/them. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in PA, as well as a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional Level II.
In my free time, you can often find me cozied up with a book and my cats, Emmett and Juniper (who make frequent appearances when I work from home). I love going to concerts, art crawls, museums, and comedy shows. I also enjoy vegan baking, geocaching, word games, trivia, flow arts, and Roadside America. I’m a nerd for theory and philosophy, and I have a special interest in feline behavior and nutrition. I'm a novice birder and an amateur Trekkie with renewed interest in Japanese stationary and women’s sports, and I want to learn trail orienteering.

I primarily identify as a feminist and narrative therapist. I practice Somatic & Attachment Focused EMDR and Pain Reprocessing Therapy (PRT) in addition to talk therapy. My integrative approach is insight, depth, and systems oriented, and I’m influenced by liberation psychology, contemplative and existential philosophy, and harm reduction principles.
My sessions are pragmatic and easygoing, but I am direct and don’t shy away from difficult topics. I love stories, metaphors, and riddles, and I like to incorporate humor for levity. I use books, podcasts, art, music, writing, and somatics to supplement my work.
I am now also offering ketamine-assisted therapy through Joyous and Journey Clinical. Keep an eye out for therapy intensives in the near future too!

My undergraduate degree is in Women's Studies, and my graduate degree is in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. I have completed training in Pain Reprocessing Therapy, Somatic and Attachment-Focused EMDR, Written Exposure Therapy (WET), and Brainspotting. Continuous learning is important to me, and I try to stay current and up-to-date with research and evidence-based practices. I’m currently working towards EMDR Certification with Karla Fleshman, LCSW as my EMDRIA Approved Consultant. I participate in both individual and group consultation regularly, as well as my own personal therapy too.
Prior to becoming a therapist, I was many other things. As a teen and young adult, I worked various jobs in food service, retail, steel manufacturing, portrait photography, office administration, and caregiving. After college, I worked for nonprofit organizations doing in-home and community-based case management for a decade.

I know firsthand what it's like to move through the world as a multiply marginalized person. Feeling silenced, invisible, dismissed, misunderstood - I’ve been there. I get how exhausting and frustrating it is to have to constantly advocate for yourself in systems designed to discount your credibility and minimize your authority as the expert of your own bodymind and experience. I support clients with trauma processing, symptom management, and self-advocacy and assertiveness skills training. I provide solution-focused support to help clients with basic life admin tasks, problem solving, decision making, and executive functioning.
What I hear most frequently from my clients is that working with me has helped them to translate insight and awareness into meaningful change. I’ve been told that my work supports people in turning what they’ve learned through therapy into purposeful practice in everyday life.

You don’t want to “do the work” or critically examine your life. This is especially true if you are interested in doing EMDR or WET. Effective therapeutic work requires intention, effort, and vulnerability, and it’s most successful when you practice skills outside of sessions too.
You’re just looking for a space where you can vent or complain without accountability. Those spaces exist - this just isn’t one of them.
You’re not open to learning, changing, and growing. Rita Mae Brown wrote in her book, Sudden Death: “Insanity is doing the same thing, over and over again, but expecting different results.” So, let’s try something new!
You want a “blank slate” therapist. I am a human being. It’s impossible for me to be an emotionally neutral, objective, unbiased vessel. My life and beliefs have been shaped by experience, just as yours have.
You do a lot of traveling and don’t spend much time in Pennsylvania. Although sessions are virtual, I am only able to meet with you when you are physically located within the state at the time of our appointments.
You want to focus on weight loss, anger management, or substance abuse. These are ethical boundaries for me.

Yes, I accept some insurance plans, such as Aetna, Highmark, and Blue Cross Blue Shield. Additionally, I can help you utilize out-of-network benefits if you have them. I use Thrizer to offer free benefits verification, superbill generation, and insurance claim submission.

My standard out-of-pocket rate is $150 per session after intake, which is $200. I offer 4 sliding scale slots and 4 pro bono slots to maintain accessibility, but all slots are currently filled and waitlisted. I utilize the Green Bottle Method and this sliding scale system and equity-adjusted cost self-assessment calculator from Hadassah Damien of Ride Free Fearless Money to determine personalized sliding scale rates. I can accept Visa, Mastercard, Discover, and American Express for out-of-pocket payments.

An effective therapeutic relationship depends on consistency and mutual respect for time. If you are running late for an appointment, let me know. As long as you arrive within 15 minutes of your scheduled appointment time, I will still be able to meet with you. To ensure I can continue to offer my services reliably, I require at least 24 hours’ notice for cancellations or rescheduling. Life is unpredictable, and I understand that emergencies, illness, and unexpected scheduling conflicts happen. If you need to cancel, please give advance notice so I can offer that time to someone else in need. When a session is missed with less than 24 hours notice, a fee of $50 applies. When an appointment is missed without any notice, a $100 fee applies. These fees help cover the cost of the reserved time slot I’m unable to fill. While I have been flexible in the past, I've found that holding this boundary consistently helps clients feel more accountable and committed to their own healing process.
Note: In cases of genuine emergency or severe illness, please reach out to me directly. I am happy to discuss individual circumstances on a case-by-case basis.

Yes, with some exceptions. I am a mandated reporter in PA, and the following are situations where confidentiality is broken: if you disclose any known or suspected abuse or neglect of children, elders, or adults with disabilities; if you disclose or imply any threat of imminent harm (i.e., plans to seriously hurt or kill yourself or someone else); if I receive a legal order (a judge-issued subpoena or court order that requires me to share information about you). I always try to limit the scope of what is released, but these situations legally require me to disclose specific information to specific third parties.

I take a layered zero trust approach to privacy and security. I use open source and independently audited Proton Workspace and DuckDuckGo. I also use Proton VPN, phishing-resistant Yubikey authenticators, and USB data blockers to ensure secure access to devices, networks, and servers. I take privacy seriously, and I do my best to protect your data from breaches, AI, and surveillance. The Proton suite is ISO 27001 certified and SOC 2 Type II audited, and it supports compliance with HIPAA. With the zero-access encryption used in this digital workspace, not even Proton can gain access to your information.

I primarily see folks virtually via Proton Meet. I have very limited availability in a tiny office for in-person sessions. I still practice infection control precautions, and I kindly ask that you wear a mask with at least 95% filtration efficiency if attending sessions in-person. I run a GoveeLife Smart Air Purifier 2 Pro air purifier with a HEPA filter and a PM2.5 sensor and have hand sanitizer readily available. My office space (carpets, floors, hard surfaces) is cleaned daily and kept fragrance-free, and high-touch points are sanitized with Virex. I and many of my clients are immunocompromised, and we sincerely appreciate the collective effort to maintain accessibility and safety.

I do not provide emergency services. If you are in an emergency, dial 911 or go to your local Emergency Department. If you are in crisis, you can call or text 988 to reach the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline.
Please note: if you do not consent to the use of GPS to track your location/movement and wish to minimize risk of nonconsensual active rescue (deployment of emergency first responders without your permission if you are actively suicidal or in imminent danger), please refer to this guide for non-carceral alternatives.
